¡Hola, mis encantadoras lectoras!
(Hello, my lovely readers!)
Today, on Cinco de Mayo, we honor the strength and spirit of Mexican culture. While often mistaken as Mexico’s Independence Day, Cinco de Mayo actually commemorates the Mexican army’s remarkable victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Though not a major holiday in Mexico outside of Puebla, it has come to symbolize resilience, pride, and cultural identity, especially for Mexican Americans.
And speaking of strength and cultural pride, I’m especially inspired today by the words of the incomparable artist Frida Kahlo, who once said:
“I paint flowers so they will not die.”
Such a simple sentence, yet it bursts with passion—for art, for beauty, for capturing something eternal. It reminds me why I write love stories. Love, like art, is a way of preserving what is most beautiful and fierce in this world. Whether it's a first kiss, a shattered heart, or a soul-deep connection, I strive to put it all on the page so it can bloom again and again in your hands.
Life is messy. So is love. But that’s what makes it magical—and worth celebrating every day.
So here’s to vivid color, fiery passion, and the stories that never fade.
With love and inspiration,
