Good morning, my beautiful readers!
I just got back from a whirlwind weekend in Las Vegas, and my heart is so full. I had the absolute joy of attending Book Lovers Con, where I met so many of you—loyal readers, new fans, and kindred spirits. If you're reading this and we crossed paths, thank you for making my weekend unforgettable!
I also had the chance to network with fellow authors and soak in all the literary love that makes events like this so energizing. But this trip wasn’t just about books—it was a bit of a family affair, too. My sister Louise and my niece Lauren came along, and we were able to catch up, laugh, and make memories (and maybe eat a few too many decadent desserts!)
And the cherry on top? I got to visit with my son Eric, who’s in rehearsals for The Dangerous Liaisons with Vegas City Opera, which opens at the end of this month. Watching him pursue his passion with such focus and flair filled me with so much pride.
All of this—books, family, creativity, connection—got me thinking about luck.
Las Vegas, with all its flashing lights and games of chance, is a city built on luck...but I’ve come to believe that the best kind of luck isn’t random. It’s the kind we make ourselves. It’s in the chances we take—the risks we say yes to, the people we open our hearts to, and the dreams we dare to chase.
I’ve built my life and my stories on the power of taking that leap, even when the outcome wasn’t guaranteed. And I’ve learned again and again that courage, determination, and a little faith in yourself can turn the odds in your favor.
Thomas Jefferson put it best:
"I am a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it."
So this week, I challenge you to make your own luck. Say yes to something that scares you just a little. Trust your instincts. Believe in your voice. Whether it’s a creative project, a relationship, or simply a new habit—take the chance. You never know what might be waiting on the other side. ❤️
Wishing you courage, inspiration, and a little sparkle this week!
